Svelte Red Rose3
Svelte Red Rose3 is a beautiful, almost abstract and mysterious Red Rose. The petals curl and fold in a way that feels like they are hiding something beneath them. It appears to be harbouring a hooded figure lurking in the centre within it’s shades and tones.
I love to paint roses, in fact, I think it’s one of the most painted subjects that I have done. I like to try to capture that velvety look and feel that roses have on their petals. Furthermore, I think it’s quite strange that yellow roses are my most favourite colours of all the roses, and yet it’s not a colour I have painted them in. Maybe I will make that my next challenge.
This particular painting was the first time I had used Water Mixable Oils. I was so excited to try them out, I even made the canvas for it myself, it is H91 cm x W29 cm (H 36″ x W 11 3/4”).
The water mixable oils (for me), were a lot easier to use than ordinary oils. They still take some time to dry, but not as long as ordinary oils. I guess I got on better with them because I like that I can clean up my brushes and palates more easily than I can when using proper oils. Having said this, I have only ever used ordinary oils twice, so I’m quite an oil novice.
Here’s a link to Wikipedia, if you would like to know more about these paints and what Wikipedia says about them. I hope you find it helpful.
