Original Mixed Media Art

by Lynne Potrykus

Exploring emotion, movement and human connection through layered acrylic paintings and mixed media.

Every painting begins with curiosity and evolves through instinct, texture and imagination, inviting you to discover your own story within the work.

Rainbow City, with a bright orange sun‑like clock, blue and purple cogs forming an abstract skyline and reflection, with strong texture and raised three‑dimensional elements.

Rainbow City

A vibrant mixed‑media cityscape where gears, colour and light flow together, shifting from cool mechanical textures into the warmth of a rising clock‑sun. A piece about movement, imagination and the quiet energy that connects all things.

Meet Lynne

Creativity has always been part of my life. From childhood drawings around the family table to discovering new possibilities in found objects and layered paint, art has been the thread running through everything I do. Over time, I realised that my true artistic home is mixed media — the freedom to combine materials, textures, and unexpected elements speaks directly to how I see the world.

I first encountered mixed media through the work of Louise Nevelson, whose monumental assemblages opened my eyes to the beauty hidden in everyday objects. Her approach to structure, depth, and reclaimed materials shaped the way I began exploring my own practice. Today, mixed media isn’t just a technique for me; it’s my main artistic style and the foundation of how I create, experiment, and express myself.

A Camera Never Lies, a metal assemblage artwork made from washers, bolts, and textured industrial pieces

A Camera Never Lies
A textured mixed‑media piece exploring how truth and perception shift through the lens. The layered elements create a sense of distortion and depth, suggesting that what we see is never the whole story. Mixed media: acrylic, platics, metal components

Faithful Guardian-Pug, a mixed-media portrait of a pug with a soft blue circular background, showing the dog's gentle, loyal expression and textured features.

Faithful Gaurdian-Pug
A mixed‑media tribute to loyalty and quiet strength. Layered textures and reclaimed metals shape the pug’s compact, watchful form, giving the piece a gentle presence and highlighting the character found in everyday materials.

Two Between The Breath, Mixed‑media artwork of two intertwined figures with layered blue and purple textures

Two Between the Breath
A reflective mixed‑media work capturing the quiet space between movement and stillness. The layered forms and subtle textures create a sense of pause, inviting the viewer to linger and interpret the moment held within the piece. Mixed media: acrylic, cardboard, textured elements.
