Blue Lilium Flowers
These beautiful Blue Lilium flowers are floating on a canvas, this was painted for a client who just loves Liliums.
The client, brought in a photograph of the wallpapered space where she wanted the piece to be hung. The client’s brief was for me to paint the Liliums so that they looked like they were free flowing in the wind, they didn’t want them painted set within a vase, nor did they want them to be painted on stems, they were just happy for them to flow freely on the canvas.
The paints that I had chosen for this painting were Acrylics, they wanted it to be painted on a canvas. The canvas length is approx. 50 cm (19 3/4″) the width is approx. 40 cm (153/4″) it is painted by L. Potrykus 2007 Commissioned by Miss R. Grant.
These flowers are sometimes known as Asiatic Lilies, there are many colours to choose from, but you do not generally see blue Lilium flowers. These particular ones that I painted were painted in the client’s choice of colours.
Here’s a bit of information about Liliums, also known as Lilies. These flowers are grown from bulbs and can grow from 2 to 6 ft (60–180 cm) tall. Lilium (according to Wikipedia) is the botanical Latin name, and it is assumed to refer to ‘true’ this being derived from the Greek word λείριον leírion. They originally stemmed from Europe, Asia to Japan, India to the Philippines, now they can also be seen in Canada, and in the United States of America.
Commissions undertaken or you can back order this painting which will be the same, but it will be subject to the colours being available. We will match the colours to the best of our ability.
